It’s been quite some time since the Toyota Tundra received a full redesign. While we don’t know much about it just yet, what we have seen has us very excited here at Newbold Toyota. It looks like Toyota is bringing its modern design principles to every inch of the 2022 model.

What’s Getting Replaced?

The outgoing Tundra generation started in 2014. It runs off a 5.7-liter V8 engine, which produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. It has a fairly traditional look to it and gets the job done around Shiloh, IL, but it’s time for a new design after seven years.

What Do We Know About this Redesign?

Toyota recently teased an image of the new Tundra’s engine cover. Although this doesn’t tell us anything for certain, the three intake runners on each side may suggest a hybrid engine setup. Hybrid powertrains are becoming more and more popular around St. Louis for pickup trucks. They give these powerhouses a boost of instant torque, allowing them to get up to speed much faster, even when hauling a heavy load through Belleville, IL.

We also know that the front of the new Tundra will have a very different look than Highland drivers are used to. The new fascia includes a bold new grille and an array of LED lighting. While we haven’t gotten a look at the interior just yet, if it’s anything like what we’ve seen of the outside, then we expect the new Tundra to become a favorite of our Newbold Toyota team very quickly.
